like a stone…
I deliberated hard over the theme for this section on grief, but ultimately, Chris Cornell’s raspy longing in this acoustic version of “Like a Stone” was the only one that could do justice to the space of unrequited love that is grief. It is important to note that some grief can be labeled complex or complicated when the symptoms don’t seem to dissipate. Acceptance work is good work to do with this kind of grief.

There is no getting around grief, nor is there a way past or over it. It is the ocean that we are all in. You cannot avoid it. It will have its day and it will sweep you slow and steady or swirling hurricane. You can be in your grief but you must accept it as the place where you exist. When it feels too overwhelming, don’t do it alone! Grief was never meant to be felt alone, it was meant to be shared. Find a therapist or talk to a friend and begin the process of acceptance. Acceptance is healing.
